Ooooooh, Matt... There are still Penn Central covered hoppers trolling around down here. Conrail equipment will probably still be around when I'm an old man (a long way off yet). Good shots on both threads.

Btw, what is that white stuff all over the right of way?

Thanks for the kind words. There was a snowstorm a couple days before my adventures in Buffalo at the end of last month. It was very cold when I arrived- 15 degrees when I got up on the bridge at Tifft Street!

Caught the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus train on its way to the show at Hampton, VA. Someone has done me the favor of clearing out a number of the trees that have been in the way at CA 25 on the Peninsula Sub. This was train P922-04 passing by at track speed on 4/5/11 at 1245Hrs.

Last Wednesday, I decided to head down to wher the Coal River and the Kanawha Subdivisions meet up at Saint Albans, West "By Gawd" Virginia to get some video and photos.

Started it all off with a monster of a grain train with seven units being led by the 7344.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMGxm6ldnmI

Second train of the day was the P050-12 with AMTK 21 on the point and a few surprises behind it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9pA1JKGCvE

Third train of the day was an E516-13 being led by AC60CW #607.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXfKEx4es4A

After those three trains and four hours went by. The next one to show up was the N707 being lead by the CSXT 705 as it headed east for Richmond, Virginia with loads bound for the power plant at Amoco, Virginia.

A couple of minutes later, the T828 showed up with the 323 leading taking loads to the AEP power plant at Relief, Ohio.

A few minutes after the T828 had went passed the former Chesapeake & Ohio depot and crossed over to number one track at CP "West End of Dock." The N672 passed through Saint Albans with loads bound for Virginia Electric Power's plant at Wheelwright, Virginia.

Now this is where it got really interesting for a short period of time.

Here we have the E590 being led by CSXT 7313 with a string of empties bound for Danville, West Virginia. I had noticed that before he got his signal to proceed on to the "Slow River." I noticed that Somebody had a clear signal all the way through town. That somebody turned out to be a G854 being lead by SD70AC #4718 with SD70AC #4757, C40-8W #7799, and a GEVO trailing. You'll notice that the "CSX" is completely gone off the front of the 4718.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=la3WasHpouk

Last train of the day was the G862 being led by a former Family Lines/L&N  SD40-2 #8155.

Normally, April is a productive month for visiting Chili Junction on Saturday evenings. However, the weather and personal business have conspired to keep me away from there for most of this month. So far, I've only been able to get there once. It was a good trip... with this eastbound CSx freight being the first of five  that evening.

During my drive to Chili Junction, I had passed over a westbound CSX freight heading through the infamous "Can of Worms" on the other side of Rochester. This is the meet between the two CSX freights.
