The past week or so has been really interesting to say the least railfanning the old Chesapeake & Ohio. It all started on Wednesday of last week when trains Q130 and Q139 started making their presence know on the C&O.

Q130-21 passing through Marmet on Wednesday of last week.

On Saturday, I hit up the Northern Subdivision between Chillicothe and Columbus, Ohio. I will say that the traffic was less than normal when I was there. Considering when I jumped over to the NS side, that was when CSX decided to start running everything. However, I did not leave CSX trackage empty handed. I was rewarded with HLCX 1010 setting at the East End of the Vauces center siding.

to add...................

No that is not me in the last photo, that is actually my father.

As storm clouds grow CSX #7505 leads a newer unit on an eastbound coal train through the signal at CA25.3 on the Peninsula Sub, Aug 5, 2011.

Mike,

That train just went by my house not twenty minutes ago with 683 in the lead westbound.

Speaking of trains and things....

Q135-04 with an all BNSF lashup heading west through Marmet yesterday evening. I'll take the BNSF units even though they were just two GEVOs.

The crews have been getting some good turnaround times out of NPN. Lots of action on the old C&O line of late. That photo was one of 4 trains I saw during a lunch hour.

Here we have an eastbound at White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. This is a train of covered hoppers for cement that will make its way to Richmond VA and head out on the Bellwood Sub.

Mike,

I did not see that K240 come back through here heading west the other day. I guess it ran on Friday earlier than I thought.

So, is this train's symbol K240 eastbound & westbound?
I ask because I heard the westbound move called K240 while he was getting his mess together leaving Richmond, VA on 8/18/11 around 1500Hrs.

Yeah, the image is kinda fuzzy... but I have to include this one because it's not often that I see CSX power on NS! In this case, the EMD is leading a train westbound on the Southern Tier Mainline on a beautiful spring afternoon.

Photo taken by me Sunday 6/5/2011 in Corning, NY. There's more summer action to be posted... and that's a promise!

I have a brief moment to resume this series, so let's advance to July. Tyhe CSX action (for me) resumed around the middle of the month. I barely had a chance to get out of the car when this westbound freight arrived.
