Wolf Creek siding is being extended

Over the last few weeks I have been watching them building a new base so they can extend the Wolf Creek siding north of Lacombe AB.  As of the last trip past it they had extended the sub base of the line over 1.4 kms so far and were still going north along the west side of the line.  Its an interesting thing to watch the progress.  Sorry no pics at the moment but these days they will pinch you if your driving and taking pics and what I drive you can't just park on the side of the road.  Just thought you would find this of interest.

Thanks for the update.  Keep us posted.  CP has also extended the siding at Sintaluta, SK, on the mainline.

Glad to be of assistance.  I drove by today and they are now to the 2km point now.  Have to see if they keep going north.  they are now north of the over pass where 2A leaves highway 2 going north.

after a bit of a break during the real cold spell there is more going on.  there are ties beside the main line and a large pile of tie plates and cans of spikes there now.  they are also putting the final layers of the sub grade down prior to laying the ties in place.  they are moving right along on this project.

the ties are going down now.  at least one piece of steel is in place,  they seem to be getting the new north switch ready, to far away to get a good look for my rig.

The north switch and signals are in and ties and rail are also down to the current switch and signals.  No ballast in place yet but I would think that will arrive very shortly.

the extension is now in service.  they removed the old north switch and hooked  the rails in about 5 days ago and I saw a grain train going very very slowly onto the siding south bound that afternoon.
