Hi, everybody! I was just wondering if anybody has any information about what work is being done under the West Cap 2 project. I believe extending double track on the mountain sub from Forde to Donald is one of the projects. And I'm thinking extending sidings on the Shuswap sub as well, but I really don't know what exactaly is being done, and when it's expected to be completed. I guess the new double track at Savona is also part of the project. Any information would be appreciated.

I travel through the area often and there are a few projects on the go....
The double tracking at Savona looks to be complete.
West of Pritchard beside the engine sidings is a huge project on the go rumored to be an intermodel load/unload facility.
I'll update as I see new things in my travels.....

Okay, Today I see from the signals at Ducks (109.??) to 106 (Geddis) is being prep'd for a 3rd track; possibly a siding to lead into the rumored Intermodal facility.....
The facility's site looks to be almost ready for trackwork to begin....  maybe in the spring?

Cool thanks for the info. I was up there on Labour day and noticed the machinery. The company has issued a bulletin about ES programs on the shuswap sub but haven't outlined the plan anywhere that I can see. I had heard the rumours about a possible IMS yard near Ducks, but again haven't seen anything from the company about it. I think they're extending either the sidings at salmon arm and canoe, or maybe even double tracking between those sidings or from salmon arm to the double track at Shuswap. Necessary improvements on the bottle necks. I assume if traffic picks up, they will start powering up the coal trains again.

Yeah, if they would just finish this off in Savona, THEN the double-tracking would be complete...

Drove over that section in Savona today...all finished and done!
Too much of a rush for pictures, plus I forgot my camera for this trip

OK, a wack-load of pics of the construction from Ducks to Geddis.  Took my 3 year old out there this past Sunday to start documenting it.
First three are of the farm that was purchased by CP, whose residents used to be customers of mine.  I posted some pics of trains out here a coupel years ago on the B.C. forum, can't remember which thread.

Up until recently the big farmhouse in the background was for sale...as long as the purchaser was willing to move it off the property.

There is a long trench beside the double-tracking for several kilometers, i presume to provide for stabilization under the new third mainline?

Previous photo was east end of Geddis facing west.
Photo with my kid in it was the west end facing east.
Here's a bunch of new turnouts.
