Hi!
End of May we (some Raifans from Germany) will come to Western Canada.
Some days we will spend in Lethbridge and Red Deer area and hope to see some real trains. I have not much knowledge about train operations there so I hope that someone can help.
How many trains we can expect to see?
What is the best train time?
I hope for a shot of a train on the Lethbridge bridge. Some tips to achieve this goal?
Anything else what we should'nt miss?
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences with us!!!
Greetings from sunny Europe

Im always glad to see others coming to have a look at the "flat lands".  I can't give you to many numbers but just a few ideas.  Red Deer is a bit of a hub so things sort of  flow in then out again so one hour there are 2 engines at the terminal  then 12 a few hours later.  CP from what I have seen of late seems to "fleet" trains on this line so there will be 4 or so going one direction then they are going the other way.  The yard in RD is at right angles to 67st right beside the QE2 highway (or Hwy 2) depending on your map.  There are a couple of hotels right next to the line on the other side of the overpass away from the yard,  they do have rooms over looking the line by the way.
Just north of RD there are a few industries with their own switchers to take shots of and CN puts in an appearance on the line going west.
Can't help with Lethbridge sorry but don't get down that way to often.
Hope you have great weather for you and your group.
