Siding beside airport trail is Beddington. The engine you most likely are seeing is the helper remote for the 607/608 Shantz turn. Im curious as to why it would have been up at crossfield but most likely the 607 was not able to get into the back track at beddington and just left it there.

Here is a pic of the new engine that is being tested in Alyth. Its an EMD Repower 710 Eco. It is actually an old GP9 which has been retrofitted with a new fuel efficient engine still with its old body and frame. I havnt used it yet but have heard its good. This prototype might fly in Calgary as batteries arent used which arent good in Calgary winters.

What is it's heritage?

Appears to be CP for sure...shouldn't be hard to figure out, only a handful have left the roster..unless this one wasn't actually retired, but just sent in for this rebuild.

Hmmm, after looking around, it MIGHT be one of the Soo 4200's...only based on ditchlight type, and the fact that they retained their original step design, the CP units did not...this unit clearly shows(in other photos) the standard step design. Tough to say!

Hmmm, ok, they actually went to the effort of changing the stepwells back..so it was one of the few that have left.

Its almost New Years Day in 1973, almost the end of the Christmas break. To the left, PNC 186, awaites next assignment, while CP Trainmasters await conversion for Hump Service. There are lots more photographs from this visit to follow.

Just a note as to something I saw today as I went over the bridge by the shops.  There were two GP-38-2's from the Soo there (4616 was one) and over on the other side of the bridge by the Portland Street Depot ( I think that is what its called) there is a SRS car that has been there for the last few weeeks.  Sorry no pics but was driving my rig so sort of busy lol.
