I think this old box car would qualify as an "old hand", wouldn't it?  It would be interesting to know all the places this car has been.

Nice old box car sitting on the reducer at Grenfell, SK, 1980's.  This one and the others with it probably didn't do much more work after this picture was taken in the '80's.

What the .......??!!??  Is it 2007 already?  Well then, I guess these three are "old hands" now.  Waiting for the light at Grenfell, SK eastbound on the CP mainline, Oct. 27, 2007.

Found these two working at the east end of Saskatoon.  Notice the 1532 doesn't seem to have the dynamic brake grilles welded closed like most of the rebuilt switchers do.  They sure did sound nice!!

Westbound, out of Broadview, SK on a nice summer evening.  MLW leading, with an old GP trailing.  Lots of smoke and noise about to happen.

Those SOO boxes are regulars hauling lead and zinc ingots out of the Cominco smelter in Trail, BC.  Those along with the "QC" initials have been on this circuit for decades... I'm not too sure where they go once loaded but always come back empty.

Great photos as always Ken, please keep it up.

Grand old engine sits patiently at the elevator track switch, waiting for the blue flag to be lifted and to be able to roar eastbound out of Broadview on a frosty morning.  A couple of engineers told me that these F's were a lot warmer than the old Geeps.  When this pic was taken, 1413 was around thirty years of hard service.  Great machines.  It's a pity more CP F's weren't saved.  December 1981

A whole passle of those pesky SD-40's waiting for work on the Broadview shop tracks on a blustery day.

Its funny how ones point of view changes with time isn't it?  Remember when CP was the land of SD40's and you got excited to see anything else.  I get a lift now days seeing a solid set of SD's running between Edmonton and Calgary as its such a change from the GE's that have taken over.  Makes one wonder what will take over from them

Piglet:  These pics were taken in the '80's when the SD40's were everywhere.  I resented these engines at the time, as I was trying to get as many pics of the old first generation EMD's as I could.  As you say, now I get excited when I see and/or hear SD40's pulling hard.  Nothing - NOTHING - sounded as good as two or three good old 16-567's lifting a freight or passenger train away from a dead stop.  I recall one day at noon when I left my lunch half eaten to get to Broadview to photo a train with an ALCO lead, GP9 and three B-units on an eastbound freight.  Man, those were the days!!

Now, this one IS an "old hand".  Imagine my surprise and pleasure when this old relic showed up on a passenger train at Broadview.  Even in the 1980's, this one had to be rare in this livery!!  I have pics of another one in the same colors.
