Two photos from 1995, a long day in Buffalo, NY ending up at SK yard.

First, CP SD40M-2 5496 [ex-DRGW SD45 6330], with a very ugly HCLX SD40 6369 [ ex-MILW 208], arriving from Binghamton.

As daylight faded, I ended up back at SK yard, with the arrival of a CP train from the west, led by CP 4215 / CP 5430 [ex-UP/ex-MP 3195] / CR 6322.  On the mainline heading west was an intermodal led by NYSW 4050 / NS 3188 / NS 2864.

A couple more from early 1996:
At the south end of Conklin yard, Binghamton, NY, what I guess you'd call a dog's breakfast,
CP 5690, CP 3254, CP 5697, D&H 7308, and CP 8227
3254 was built as Southern 3254, went to NS.
D&H 7308 was built as Lehigh Valley 314, to D&H 7314, Guilford/D&H 220.

Train is southbound, heading for Scranton, PA on former Delaware, Lackawanna & Western mainline.

About an hour south of Binghamton is Tunkhannock Viaduct at Nicholson, PA.  Southbound intermodal hits the north end of the viaduct.

A southbound intermodal led by 3 SD40's at Mechanicville, NY on the former D&H, near XO tower.  Early 1996.

A northbound intermodal approaching the tunnel at Tunnel, NY on Belden Hill.  At the right edge of the photo is a green signal.  Helping out is GATX 900, an ex-UP/ex-MP SD40.  June 1996.
D&H used to use pusher engines up to this point to get upgrade out of Binghamton.

Nice shots! I remember when CP, NS and NYSW were running those trains on the Tier in the mid to late '90s.

I like an engine with a story to tell.  StL&H 5560 helping out, eastbound at Silver Springs, NY with loaded salt hoppers from GNW/RSR interchange.
It seems 5560 was wrecked, rebuilt by GM with parts from the original engine, and given... the same road number.

Been kind of quiet here for a few weeks.  Here are another two shots of a northbound coal train at Tunnel, NY on the former D&H.  CP is leading with 3 SD40-2's...

followed by no less than 4 big GE's from the NS.  Must have been one serious load of coal to rate seven 6-axle engines, probably bound for a New England power station.  NS 9253 has the Operation Lifesaver paint, trailing a pretty haggard CP 5621.

CP 9023 helping CP 3119.  They were backing a ready made switch setup off onto the elevator track at Grenfell, SK.  3119 facing west.

I know CP have HP/run through agreements, but I have never seen a UP leading on the Main Line.
This morning in Revelstoke on a Grain heading west.
