These two big GE's pulled up and stopped at Grenfell eastbound on March 3, 2009.  I was able to grab a few shots before they got a light and ...they're on the way!!

March 17, 2009.  I spotted two CP engines at the concrete elevator west of town.  Aha!!!  I'll see a good show!  Well, not to be.  They apparently were called away from the intended job, or ?  Anyway, they backed east down the south elevator track to the cars spotted there, sat there for a while, then came trundling back out, closed the switches behind them, and headed back east light to Broadview!!  Notice the stacks showing on the older one.  Still sharp looking engines!

Caught this old "Red Barn' flying west through Grenfell, SK. this morning (Mar 23, 2009) sandwiched between a GE and the 6615.  Getting to be a rare sight.

Three GE's westbound at Broadview yard on an empty potash train.  These engines are starting to look scruffy.  Lots of work will do that!!

Caught these four units mucking with some cars at Grenfell, eastbound this afternoon (April 6, 2009).  Notice the 4602 - is it a what  GP 35??  It's tubo'd, and obviously a "foreign" unit, or is it??  Didn't CP have some GP35's??  Also note the 6602 - it is definitely a "foreign" unit.  SOO, perhap's??  Anyway, all nice looking engines, and a really neat mix for an old railfan to gawk at!!

Leading off...

Huh, weird unit to have up here...Ex Soo, Exx Milwaukee GP40(it's a straight GP40, and an early one at that..doesn't have the telltale signs on the hood behind the cab of having had a -2 cabinet retrofitted either)....yes, very nice lashup! Not a GE in sight!

Last Friday evening I saw a pair of CPs on our NS rails running through Walnutport, PA East Bound toward Allentown, PA.

Is this unusual?  It's the first in my experience.

Since it was dark, I couldn't get a picture.  But my eyes did not trick me, I was the first car at the crossing and the bright red pair were very obvious.

What do you think?  Rare or not?

Thanks,
Dwight
