Talk about dumb luck...  This morning, on my way to work in freezing rain, I spotted a school bus making the obligatory stop at a crossing on OMID around Williamson.  I considered telling the driver he had nothing to worry about, at 7:30 AM.  On my way home, I thought about taking Rt.31 to Rochester for a visit to Goodman St. yard.  Instead, I headed north from Newark to Sodus on Rt.88.  I detoured up Belden Ave. to find OMID 408 pulling some cars out of the cold storage at Maple Ave. - at 5:30 PM.  I wondered if they were just pulling the cars over to the engine house to deliver to the Newark interchange tomorrow morning.

There were two vehicles parked at the station offices and engine house - kind of strange for that late in the day.  #408 dropped the cars near the Maple Ave. crossing and headed west, I figured, to "head for the barn."

The crew crossed over to the south track (closest to the station) and headed east.

The crew crossed Maple Ave. and tied on to the east end of the four cars, no doubt to take them to the Newark interchange.  This redemption center on Burlee Rd. used to be a produce stand a few years ago.  The OMID probably runs on 25 MPH track, so I figured I'd catch them at Wallington Junction.

The train squealed around the curve at Wallington Junction at about walking speed.  It takes me about half an hour to drive from Newark to Sodus, and I wasn't going all the way back to Newark.  The ex-PRR trackage heads south from Wallington, then cuts across farmland and such to end up near Rt.88.  I wasn't up to following the train, ending up in Newark in the dark.  At least I made it this far in daylight.

I poked around the east end of the wye recently, and stumbled across the remains of a spur and former customer at South Geneva Road:

...and unlike the other OMID Alcos, #3 has never had a collision with a truck. Just sayin'

I found RS11 #36 outside the engine house on a recent visit:

MOW critters were parked in front of the engine house, too:

The boxcar I saw at Great Lakes Cold Sotrage earlier in the month was still there...

...but there were tank cars in the yard that hadn't been there before:

iIt looked only one track west of Blden Avenue had been used since the storm:

Although there were few refrigerator cars at Great lakes storage, rail service appears to be quite active there:
