For those interested, Reply #527, on Page 27, shows the old signals that used to protect State St.

Does the Auburn switch job have a caboose?

Question is asked account none shows in the photos and the job did have a caboose as late as 2012.

The two cabooses that were assigned to Auburn, 201 & 202, have been gone for several months now.  I am not sure if they are being used elsewhere in the system.

The picture I recently mentioned that I took is on page 6, reply number 127. If you click on the thumbnail image, I think it's a pretty decent depiction of that unique crossing signal.

You are welcome TB.  I will do a little research (ask a question or two) and see if I can ascertain their status and location.

I finally had a little time this morning and made my way to the Auburn Yard.  There I found Dave operating the Auburn Local and switching gondolas, used to transport Nucor Steel Company rebar.  I asked him about the location and status of the two cabooses, FGLK 201 & 202.  He stated both were in Geneva, out of service and need of significant repair, to bring them back on line.  He liked to use them, but the other engineers that work the Auburn Local did not.  Based on the cost to repair and the majority dislike for them, he doubts they will be returned to service.

Finger Lakes Railway Track Project Update.

Installation is complete and the new spur, next to the O-I Runaround, is in service, as evident by the cut of covered hoppers set out on it.  The Mainline is to the left, Runaround in the middle, and the new spur to the right.

With this project completed, focus has been shifted to the Auburn Yard Track Project.

More updates to follow.

Along with pictures of the Finger Lakes Railway, I occasionally take videos as well.  I administer a youtube channel for the model railroad club I belong to, and post them there.  I believe there are currently three FGLK videos on the channel, with more to follow.  The channel's name is "Cayuga Valley", for the Cayuga Valley Model Railroadres.  Ill post the link below.

I've seen the boxcar and plow at Victor but missed the milepost. Nice catch!

A Finger Lakes Railway Maintenance of Way crew uses a High-Rail GRADALL and a High-Rail Dump Truck. with rotating box, to clear brush along the Mainline, where it passes through the Auburn Yard.

It's a cold and blustery day, as the Finger Lakes Railway Auburn Local Engineer makes his way back to the end of his train, where he will ride the last car during a backing move into the yard. The gondolas carry Canadian National, Atlantic & Western, Grand Trunk Western and Bessemer & Lake Erie reporting marks.

A pair of GP38-2s were delivered to FGLK recently, as the SD38-2s will be phased out. I caught "new" EMDs last weekend:

This photo was taken by me Saturday 4/29/2017 in Border City, NY.  Also, FGLK has relayed some of the rail on a spur in Penn Yan.

I spent a couple days with FGLK last week. Let's start with HG2.

Southbound at Lakemont Himrod Rd in Himrod:

Passing the old salt mine in Himrod:

Working the transfer yard in Himrod:

Heading north on the NS Corning Secondary (via trackage rights) in Benton:

At the main yard in Border City:

After chasing HW2, I also checked a B23-7 and GP9 parked at the west end of the yard in Geneva:

For an additional look at HW2's journey up the west side of Seneca Lake and the power parked in the yard, please visit my slide show:
