Apologies if already discussed, but can anyone tell me the date ranges (if any) the B&O serviced New Market, VA? Iím not a B&O guy and thereís not much out there on the netz.

Great question! Here, your writer may have forgotten more than whatever
may be easily recalled.
Ages ago, there a time whereby Baltimore based B & O operated its own  
line of railroad below Martinsburg WV and Winchester VA, to and from a
point (IIRC) at end of line, Strasburg VA. At some point in its history, the
segment Strasburg and Winchester sold off to what became Southern RR
System. For fact, it may have been so long ago the segment sold off to
the Richmond & Danville RR (which later part of SRS).
Your writer can't recall a date of the B&O - SRS transaction. The facts are
in print (somewhere), tho the source does not come to mind. Ages back,
circa late 1950s - early 1960, there were B&O excursions, Baltimore, and
what was end of line at Winchester. (SIGH! HTH)  ... Vern  ...
