Restoration of #60 IS progressing at a steady pace. About a week ago new super-heater tubes arrived on the property. We're getting there...

However, neither the BRW nor the BRRHT have announced a date for the return to service of #60. That being said, it is very realistic to expect to see it under steam this summer or fall, and there remains the outside chance of a late spring appearance.

That is GREAT news! I'll be happy if she gets done this year at all, let alone this Spring or Summer.

Really, I'd be thankful if #60 came out in 2008 even!

It seems quite odd (in a good way, surely) that two of my favorite engines that have been 'dead' for the last decade or so could be returning to service this fall... C'mon, you know the engines I'm talkin' 'bout.

The 425 and #60...

Keep up the good work BR&W shops! We want to see #60 run!
Joe...

It is just a shame that the area is getting so over developed,i recall when i was little the area was nothing but farms. My first trip to BR&W was probably in 78 or 79 when i was 5,and that is where my whole interest in steam trains started most likely.Maybe when i get a free moment between work, kids and running trains at New Hope i'll try to stop by and see the progress they are making and take a few pics.

Here are a few pictures I took today.  As of February 10th, 2007, this is what she looks like.

And here is a photo of the cab. I must say that nothing symbolizes good ol' #60 then the famous diamond on the cab and the back of the tender. It sure was great to see this locomotive again, even if it was cold.

Hope you enjoyed the pics.

I am glad you were not asking how it was going because I have not been down there in some time. Things seem like they are moving along, thanks for the pic btw. Oh and yes I also got to ring the bell, durring the RR days.

I was also there with Colin to see #60 as well.

And by the way - for those who might not believe they've gotten the flues yet, well... Seeing is believing!

Up in the cab, work is being done on some of the cab apparatus.

The classic #60 diamond on the back of the tender...

Anyone think she needs a coat of fresh paint?

It is great to see her moving along.  I had posted a while back about being out this spring because that is what one of the employees told me and my family last April when we stopped by after going to New Hope for a ride.  I would love to see it out on the rails again.  I am hoping to get back to Jersey to visit my family in July, get a break from the 116+ temps out here,  and will be stopping by to go for a ride and see what is going on.

#60's great bell, of which Colin and I were both given the oppurtunity to ring!
