Great to see. Can't wait until she's fully up and running.

As does everyone out there that has missed her for the last 10 years!!

Speaking of running, I'm sure she will need a break in run on freight at some point, so I would say it would be cool to see her pulling the Halloween trains, and or if that is not possible, the Santa Trains. Either way we all know will at least see her operate in 2010!

But how soon - that's the question!  I hope not this Sunday, doing shakedown - because I'd have to work all day and would miss it!!

Wow!  I'm very glad to see all the hard work paying off on this neat 2-8-0.  She has definitely been missed.  Back when I was shooting video (Beta-style), I taped her on a winter mixed train, where we went to Three Bridges to interchange freight.  It was snowing that day in 1993.  I also taped her along with NYSW no. 142 for the Whippany Railroad Festival in 1994.  Unforgettable.  I haven't had a chance to see her since.  I hope to be able to take a trip in the near future.

So what's the latest? We haven't seen anything on here in a while. Given those pics from a few weeks back, I thought for sure we'd hear a bit about how things are progressing?

Regardless, best of luck as the pieces come together!

I would expect to hear something as we get closer to the season, 60 won't run until the spring when it is warmer out. Last I checked there is still over 12 inches of snow, the stuff one dreams about on those hot summer days in non-air conditioned coaches.

Hi,

Go to: http://brrht.org/steam.html

Click on: Click Here to get notified when news is available!

Put in your name and email and follow the rest of the instructions.

I just went through this process, it is easy and painless everyone should do it so we might not have the same "Any Updates?" question posted every other week.

Operating procedures and rules are/were being reviewed for the operation of both 60 and the 142. (the brrht's steam page talks about it)

Not to sound like the annoying foamer that I'm not, I have to ask...

Any news? The BRRHT website has nothing except "news will be posted in early spring 2010." Hate to break it to ya folks but we're creeping up on summer now...

Just curious.....

yeah, i was thinking the same thing WH, not to sound like a foamer either.

But if this is how they are going to deal with 60 it does not look very good....

I like to plan out my trips for the year by June, and it don't look like BRW will be in my agenda if they don't tell us anything.

Naugatuk is having Flagg Coal 75 in a few weeks, I'll be there and the Valley RR. I would love to come to BRW and go to NHI in one day to but we will see

I do agree - almost two months, and no updates to the Steam section of the website?  Doesn't look too good...

I think we should remain optimistic. The guys over at the BRW put ten years of work into 60 to get her up and running, they want to see her operate as quickly as we do. And with the summer tourist season coming up, a steam engine operating close to both NYC and a local mall means more money for the railroad.

I have faith that we'll see 60 running very soon.

I wish there was news to tell but last I heard nobody knows when 60 will be test run (including management), let alone finally pull a passenger train.

Not to bash the BR&W or start anything... But I've heard the track isn't in the best condition and #60 might break a spring or two running on it. Again this might not be true, but if it is I suspect this might be one of the reasons why #60 hasn't been out or tested. If you look at this this post over at Railroad.net (Second Photo) #60 looks complete and clean... Again just my opinion.
