Will anyone be out there this Saturday? I don't have to report to New Hope to fire 40 till 2:30 so I was thinking of swinging by in the morning to lend a hand.

The RR days takes a lot of people to help out, there will be someone by 60 ready to respond to questions, how ever I don’t think there will be anyone doing any work.

Big update with #60 today...

All the superheater tubes (the big'uns) are in! Now all that is left is six more smaller tubes, and from what I've heard they can be done quite easily and quickly.

Everyone was workin' hard, and I was there also helping out a bit. It was a lot of fun shovin' in the tubes (which weigh 150 lbs. each, yikes!) and gettin' dirty.

Good to see somone brought a camera. Don't forget 150 lbs is not much when 3 people are moving them. (50 lbs each)

Thanks for the kind words everyone.  But really, the guys the should be getting all of the credit are John, Paul and Brain.  If it weren't for them, the project would not be as far as it is now.  John is there about four days per week and keeps on plugging away.  Hats off to them!!

I was digging thru some of my old photos and found these.  These were taken in September 2000, just two months before 60 went out of service for good (I was actually there on the day they pulled her out in Nov. '00).  Enjoy!!

This last pic was taken in November 1998.  Hope you enjoyed the little look-back as much as I did.

That video footage looks to me like it was taken on May 23, 1992 - Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend.  I recognize the consist and the way the engineer blew the whistle, because I took video footage that same day!  I also have a calendar for a brain, lol.  Seriously.

Whoever said "those were the days" is definitely on to something -- the sound of her bell (my fav steam loco bell), that melodious crosby 3-chime whistle (that one was unfortunately stolen).  She is one fantastic locomotive.  I fired her when she last ran back in 2000, and dream about doing so again in the future...

I'll be down at the BR&W volunteering this coming Saturday.....

Colin is right, those are the real guys who should get the credit, without their leadership the progect might still be in the ground.
