I was just reading on another site and saw where Amtrak has just released more clearly defined photography rules as a result of the NYP case.

Here is the link:

Well, so much for that!  The page has already been moved or taken down.

Soo... Does that mean no pictures from onboard the train?

"Soo... Does that mean no pictures from onboard the train?"

Did you read the announcement?

It clearly states: "Ticketed passengers on board trains may take photos or video record on a train when it does not interfere with passengers or crew and in accordance with any directions given by Amtrak onboard train personnel."

As far as the page being taken down a good rule of thumb for Railfan forums is that you go to the page dealing with the subject to click on a link.  Long links, like the one used for this thread, get truncated by Railfan.net, which makes them useless.  Going to the page the actual thread is on will allow the page to be properly linked too.

Not particularly burdensome. Unless they try to unreasonably expand the "Restricted areas".

The policy might result in some interesting ambiguities in a place like Dallas Union Station or the Intermodal Station at Fort Worth where platforms are shared with other passenger rail entities.
