Last one for the year for me. Amtrak Train #66 is still working on getting up to track speed as he passes CSX Train U152-27 stopped at Oriana. The sun set is reflected in the windows of #7879. Not much light left at 1713Hrs on 12/31/10 and not much of the first decade of this century left either.

Oh - I dunno about that. Seems like we are (as of 1/1/2011)  looking at 365 days (if you count today; 364 othrwise)  left in the first decade of the 21st century - since it didn't start until 1/1/01....

Good picture - that sunset reflecting off the freight hauler (especially the cab number) is striking.

I guess i was spoiled by Es and PAs (and even A-B-B-A sets of Fs), but I am just not much turned on by the F59s. Maybe if they had a Warbonnet?

Probably the wrong place to post these but chanced upon a short Amtrak ballast train near Zoo Tower in Philly.

Good catch on the DOT cars. Looking at your first photo I was curious as to the PV at the end of the train and you answered that question.

Thank you, sir. I have rather enjoyed your east coast shots in the CSX and NS threads as well. This happened to be the only westbound Sunset Limited I ever saw, all the others were eastbound in the early a.m. hours.

Amtrak # 5 at Rocklin California with the 156 leading.   # 6 was very late so # 5 had to hold in Rocklin for a meet and the crew got down and pointed out the 156 as # 6 arrived.

#77 on train #66. We are at "Toppings" near Williamsburg, VA getting ready to hit the brakes for the station stop. Something strikes me about double digits.

Amtrak #23 leads train #30, the eastbound Capitol Limited, into Harpers Ferry, WV. He is a little off his 10:55 arrival time.

Handsome car, Dover Harbor - if i had a LOT of money (appears to average $7400 first day, and $3-4K per additional day...) probably charter it to see Glacier, Grand Canyon again and parts between.

If I hit the Texas Lottery for big bucks (and that's what it would take) I suspect i'd be putting together a railfan and family special with multtiple cars -  and offering space to a lot of folks I know from the Boards. I guess i'd better buy a ticket, since i hear you can't win without one....

Amtrak #40 leads Train #66 west on 12/16/11. The engineer responds to the Conductors "Ready to depart Williamsburg" by accelerating away from the station.
