Hey Danny...
Great images of the Cardinal and Carolinian.

Lemme dig into the Amtrak archive here and see what I can find...
I don't think this is a repost...it had been in the "reject" box because the sun ducked behind a cloud at the last second.

Location: Philly (of course).

This is a picture from today of Amtrak's Keystone, train number 42, pulling into Elizabethtown, PA (ELT) station. It was headed by P42DC #63. I spent about ten minutes chatting with the conductor while they waited for their westbound counterpart to clear the single-track east of Elizabethtown. Sorry for the small size, but I don't want to take forever to upload this on my dial-up connection.

It says Amtrak but it was hooked up to a CSX freight train pushing cars on the South end of Oakworth in Decatur, AL

Amtrak southbound Coast Starlight sporting 2 P-42's and a P-32 on Horseshoe curve, just north of San Luis Obisbo, CA.
(I'm not exactly a spectacular photographer, nor do I have a very good camera)

The Peidmont pulling into the station in Charlotte with uptown in the background.
This station is a pretty new one and was built in the '60s. The original one is just around a curve about a 1/2 mile behind the " new " station and is still trackside and used as an Afro- American urban cultural center.

Am I the only one a little annoyed at all those diesel trains running under perfectly good catenary?

I do have a picture of an Acela, but it's going so fast it's just a blur even from the end -- we were going opposite directions on adjacent tracks (150mph+ closure).

The southbound Piedmont arrives at the temporary station in Kannapolis, NC.The former station can be seen in the distance; June 2004

Now at station stop, this rear looking forward view is of F59PHI #1755, The City of Salisbury. This is one of two such units rostered by NC DOT, the other being #1767, The City of Asheville.

Many other photos of these trains along with Amtrak's Carolinian can be found on the North Carolina board.
