Yes. It has taken almost six months to get them running but they are finally working. There are supposed to be two more at the shop in Utica.

They have been out running on the CSX mainline between Syracuse and Buffalo!
twice in the last few weeks!
they are currently outlawed near Batavia, NY.

its truly amazing to have big 6-axle Alcos and MLW's out on the New York Central mainline in 2005..

47 and 41 are M636
78 is a C636 (one of the Alco C636 demonstrators no less!)

NKP S-2

S-2 or S-1?  The reason for this question is this: ex-NKP S-1 #85 is alive and well on the Bath & Hammondsport RR as their #4.  I thought NKP numbered their locos by group, as most larger RRs do.

P.S. Hopefully, I'll see #4 in action in a little over a month from now!

P.P.S.  Scot, those big Alcos just blow me away!  I never thought the old NYC would see Alcos in revenue service in the 21st Century!

Not many railroads these days operate with all Alco lashups on their mainline trains...witness Delaware-Lackawanna at Slateford, PA this morning.

Some days, the most interesting person you meet is a river with a train running beside it.

Thanks Nice pic there. If you have the time on a Sunday sometime, go on up to the water gap. Your chances are best on Sunday mid-mornings for the Portland Turn...

I met the fellow last year who owns that locomotive.  Real nice guy.  What is it being used for?

Once it's in running condition it will be used in service on the Hill Country Flyer, ASTA's excursion train when our RSD-15 (or our Mikado--when we get it operational again) is not in service.

My latest ALCo sighting was an S6 on the Fillmore & Western. It was on the afternoon train, which I rode, and was used that evening on the dinner train with a GP30.The GP 30 quit running and the ALCo cut off part of the train and continued with the rest of the consist, and later went back and picked up the rest of the train and the dead EMD. .

C424 (?) #1315 (or 315?) ex L&N, to be restored to L&N colors.

when and where was this picture taken?
I truly beleive this is the alco I have been trying to locate for several years. If this is the one it is an C420 #315. She pulled unit grain trains from Rochester, In to Argos, In. She went from IHR #315-WOHO-#315-FC#315.
