Some random shots from that day. I plan on visiting this railroad this year simply for seeing their beautiful ALCO's.

Going away shot from the passenger car. Most of their trains involved a push-pull setup with ALCO's on either end.

She's about to switch some tank cars in Middletown, they're doing this work in between the M&H's tourist runs to Indian Echo Caverns near Hummelstown.

They also operate this T6, at the far right beside the passenger cars in this picture taken in Middletown in 2003.

I would wager that New York state has more operating alcos than any state!
lets see if I can put the whole list together..
(this wont be totally exact, but its close)

Livonia, Avon & Lakeville
(including B&H, OC and WNY&P)

15 operating, plus 6 stored, awaitng shop work and return to service.

source - http://24.93.10.61/rochesterrailf/lal.htm

Susquehanna - running 5 of the Cartier 6-axle units.
remaining 3 still OOS in cohocton.

Falls road - operating RS11 and C420 (lockport)
    1 RS18 - batavia

Buffalo southern - 5 operating and 7 stored.

MHWA - 3 Centuries. (utica)

Adirondack - 3 operating (RS3, C424 and one in Rome)

RGVRRM - 3 operating (museum)

NYLE - 3 operating, 5 stored (Gowanda)

catskill - 2 operating

3 stored dead at Colonie.
2 stored dead south albany

upper hudson - 2 operating

Owego - 1 (maybe 2) stored MLW.

I think thats about everything!
some data is likely outdated, but the count is close..
so thats 44 operating alcos, and 27 stored.
making a total of 71 alcos in New York!

(and I think I have seen just about all of them!)

Here is an Alco still in service.   Ex CNR 3550 2000hp.

It runs on the OmniTrax - Okanagan Valley Railway - , based in Vernon BC, Canada.  They run leased Canadian Pacific Track from Sicamous, BC to Kelowna BC, over some joint trackage rights/ownership with the Kelowna Pacific (Leased from CN).

And here is her sister (or are Alcos male; therefore brother??   ) Ex CNR 3558.    I found him/her about 1 mile south of 3550 the same day.

It would appear that only a quick oil change and a headlight are required for quick return to revenue service!
