For all those that are aware of the Alco Century in Ft. Myers, last week I spoke to the owner of Seminole Gulf Railway, and he informed me that the Alco is receiving some well deserved TLC, and that a control part is out being bebuilt even as I write this post. The last time I personaly saw it, it was in the lead on a freight in front of one of the geeps. And of course, doing its smokey best to show which locomotive was boss. Anyhow, I hope to see it back in regular operation again soon.

Hey, Tracker, I do, but its all video. And the loco was sitting nice and quiet in the yard in Ft. Myers. I've ridden the geeps here but haven't had the chance yet to hitch a ride in the Alco. I hope I will soon. BTW, it looks good in the Seminole Gulf paint sceme. Back about a year ago, there was a picture of it leading a geep in Arcadia, fl. in Trains mag. Don't know exactly which issue though.
Thanks for the quick return post.

Hey, Traker, to answer your question, the owners of Seminole Gulf  have become very dear friends since their arriveing in Ft. Myers back in 1987. That being said, however, I never impose on them and try not to wear my welcome out around the railroad. They are good people, and the president/owner is somewhat of a railfan himself. There have been a couple of occasions that I had to work with them in an official capacity. And it was not only a pleasure working with them but informative to boot. Sorry I can't do better than just to tell about the Alco that lives here in SW Florida.
       Thanks for the responce,
       Bruce

Chestnut Ridge Railroad Corporation in Palmerton, PA uses an Alco S2 and GP7. They operate about 7 miles of track from Palmerton to Little Gap, PA.

Also Lake State Railway and the Ashtabula Carson & Jefferson railroad both run ALCOs.
I think they are all ALCO railroads.
