Gordon Hulford snapped several pictures of this unit, 4097, and sister unit 8427 hauling logs from the Nanaimo Lakes to the ocean at Ladysmith, BC. Comox Logging and Railway Co. owned the line and the ALCo's. CL&R rostered two RS3's 4097 built by ALCO, an ex-D&H unit, and 8427, built by MLW, an ex-Canadian Pacific RS3 of the same number. CL&R also rostered a former US Navy Baldwin VO-1000, numbered 7128. Both RS3's have been preserved in operating condition.

What's that tank car ahead of the engine?  Is that a fuel tender or something else?

It's a water tank for fire protection: track, forest bridges etc.

# 4097 has since been scrapped at Squamish, but the # 8427 still exists at Port Alberni B.C. and is in operating condition.
